1What membership types does SPAA offer?
SPAA currently offers three membership tiers:
  • Life Membership — A one-time fee of BDT 10,000. Grants permanent membership, lifetime voting rights in all elections, priority event access, gold badge on profile, eligibility to stand for election, and annual report recognition.
  • General Membership — An annual fee of BDT 1,000/year. Grants full portal access, directory, community feed, voting rights, event invitations, and member badge.
  • Guest Membership — Free. Grants basic dashboard access and profile management. Guests cannot browse the directory, access community feeds, or vote, but they can submit payment requests to upgrade their tier.
All types require admin approval after registration.
2How do I register and become a member?
Registration is simple and takes about 5 minutes:
  • Visit the Registration page and complete the 3-step form: Personal Info → Academic Info → Account Setup.
  • Provide your name, email, batch/session details, student registration number, and choose a membership tier.
  • Submit the form and verify your email address.
  • An admin will review and approve your application, typically within 24–48 hours.
  • Once approved, you can log in. Paid tiers (Life/General) will need to send a payment request to activate full features.
3What are the membership fees and how do I pay?
Life Membership: BDT 10,000 (one-time payment)
General Membership: BDT 1,000/year (renewable annually)
Guest Membership: Free (limited portal access)

We do not have an automated payment portal yet. Please send the fee to our bank or mobile account, then submit a **Payment Update Request** in your dashboard with details (TXID, mode, amount, date, and receipt screenshot).

4Who is eligible to vote in SPAA elections?
To vote in SPAA elections, you must:
  • Be a registered and admin-approved member of SPAA.
  • Have an active membership (Regular members must have a non-expired subscription; Life members always qualify).
  • Have verified your email address at the time of registration.
  • Not be currently serving on the Executive Committee (committee members do not vote in the same election).
Each eligible member gets exactly one vote per position during the voting window. Votes are anonymous and securely recorded.
5How do I update my profile information?
Log in to your account and navigate to My Profile from the top navigation or your dashboard. You can update:
  • Personal details (name, phone, address, profile photo)
  • Professional information (employer, designation, LinkedIn URL)
  • Privacy settings (control who can see your contact details)
Changes to academic details (batch year, registration number) require admin verification and may take 1–2 business days. Email support@spaa-alumni.org for assistance.
6What does Life Membership include?
Life Membership is SPAA's premium tier, offering the complete experience:
  • Permanent membership — never expires, no annual renewal
  • Priority invitations to all SPAA events, galas, and reunions
  • Voting rights in all elections for life
  • Eligibility to stand as a candidate in committee elections
  • "Life Member" gold badge on your directory profile
  • Access to the exclusive Life Member networking group
  • Invitations to SPAA advisory board consultations
  • Recognition in the SPAA Annual Report
7Who can view the alumni directory?
The alumni directory has tiered privacy protection:
  • Public visitors can only see the total member count — no individual profiles are public.
  • Registered members (logged in) can view the full directory including names, batch, employer, designation, and professional LinkedIn URL.
  • Personal contact details (phone, personal email, address) are only visible based on each member's privacy settings — you control who sees your information from your profile settings.
8How do SPAA elections work?
SPAA elections follow a structured, transparent process:
  • Nomination Phase (2 weeks): Eligible members submit their candidacy via the Elections page. Nominations require a proposer and seconder who are both active members.
  • Candidate Review (3–5 days): The Election Commission reviews all nominations for eligibility and publishes the final candidate list.
  • Campaigning Period (1 week): Candidates can post their manifestos on the community feed. No monetary campaigning is permitted.
  • Voting Window (48 hours): All eligible members vote online through their dashboard. Votes are encrypted and anonymous.
  • Results: Published within 6 hours of voting closing. Winners take office at the formal handover ceremony.
